Sant'Antimo circular walk: wine and spirituality

Sant'Antimo circular walk

Wine and spirituality

The Sant’Antimo circular walk is a pleasant way to escape the noise of the city, through the renowned Brunello vineyards, setting out from the equally famous Abbey.

First of all we will take a look at the history of the Val di Starcia and its vegetation. Typical of the Tuscan countryside, it is a fascinating combination of cultivated lowlands and hilly woodland.

After this we will set out for Villa a Tolli, a village of Etruscan origin, steeped in history and first stop on our itinerary. The village looks as it would have in 1200 although in fact it has recently been renovated making full use of local building techniques. Traditional farmhouses, livestock sheds, wine cellars and the little Romanesque church of Santa Lucia cluster around the landowner’s Villa dating back to 1700 with its typical Italian gardens.

  • Duration: 4 hours (3 h spent in excursion, 1 hour of guided visit to the Abbey)
  • Lenght: 8 km
  • Difficulty: medium but the itinerary is suitable for everyone
